PROJECTS
Mobile Construction Training engages youth and adults in hands-on learning through various community benefit projects. Participants not only develop essential construction skills and gain experience with industry-standard tools, but they also build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. By contributing to meaningful projects, trainees not only make a lasting impact in their community but also gain the foundational skills and experience needed to pursue careers in the trades.

Maxwell Build
The Maxwell Project is a residential home build in Paradise, CA, providing hands-on construction training while supporting the community’s ongoing fire recovery efforts. Located across the street from Paradise High School, the project offers easy access for both students and community members to gain real-world experience in residential construction, preparing them for future careers in the trades while contributing to local rebuilding efforts. This home is built in collaboration with the Town of Paradise and will be sold at an affordable rate through its low-income and fire recovery housing programs. Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested into the next affordable home build and residential training project, continuing the cycle of workforce development and community restoration.

Bethel Project
The Bethel AME Church Remodel Project is transforming the historic church fellowship hall in Chico, CA, into a Community Resiliency Center, providing a vital space for gatherings, support services, and disaster response efforts. Funded by the American Red Cross, this project not only enhances community infrastructure but also serves as a hands-on training opportunity for participants learning essential commercial construction skills. Through this renovation, trainees gain experience in carpentry, electrical work, and finishing trades while contributing to a project that will serve Chico residents for years to come. The remodeled space will foster connection, recovery, and preparedness, reinforcing the community’s resilience and dedication to creating a stronger, more sustainable future.

Small Footprint Home
The Tiny House Project, built in partnership with the Camp Fire Collaborative and the North Valley Community Foundation, is a unique initiative aimed at providing sustainable housing for a fire survivor in Paradise, CA. This home is being built by MTC and Paradise High School students, offering valuable hands-on construction training and an introduction to trade opportunities while creating a compact, efficient home. Students gain experience in various construction trades, including framing, electrical work, plumbing, and finishing. Once completed, the tiny house will be relocated to Roe Rd in Paradise and placed on a permanent foundation, where it will house a single father and his two young children. This project not only provides a home for a family in need but also contributes to the ongoing recovery and resilience of the community, as well as the success of our students.

Pleasent Ln Build
The Pleasant Ln Project is our second residential home build in collaboration with the Town of Paradise and will be sold at an affordable rate through its low-income and fire recovery housing programs. Following the success of the Maxwell Project, which is currently midway through construction, proceeds from the Maxwell build will be used to fund the Pleasant Ln project and subsequent homes, creating a sustainable cycle of affordable housing and workforce development. Located just a few hundred feet from both Paradise High School and Ridgeview High School (the view of both high schools from our lot, pictured above), this project offers convenient access for students and community members to gain hands-on experience in various stages of residential construction. With support from the North Valley Community Foundation, we have purchased four lots in Paradise to build affordable homes while training the next generation of tradespeople. Each home will provide affordable housing for local families and contribute to rebuilding the community in the wake of the 2018 Camp Fire.
